Το RELATOPIA είναι ένα διεπιστημονικό έργο που διερευνά πώς οι ερωτικές σχέσεις και η ιδέα της οικογένειας έχουν αλλάξει στη Ρουμανία τις τελευταίες έξι δεκαετίες.
«Το να κοιτάς το ζευγάρι δεν σημαίνει απλώς να παρατηρείς μια σχέση ανάμεσα σε δύο ανθρώπους· σημαίνει να αποκωδικοποιείς, μέσα από αυτήν, τους αόρατους μηχανισμούς ολόκληρης της κοινωνίας. Στον τρόπο που οι σύντροφοι επέλεγαν ο ένας τον άλλον, στο πώς μοιράζονταν το σπίτι τους, στις σιωπές και στις συγκρούσεις τους, ξεδιπλώνεται η ευρύτερη ιστορία μιας ολόκληρης κοινότητας: οι δυναμικές ανάμεσα στα φύλα, πώς μεταβιβαζόταν η εξουσία, η αξία που αποδιδόταν στην εργασία και στο συναίσθημα, καθώς και η μετατόπιση της γραμμής ανάμεσα στο δημόσιο και το ιδιωτικό».

Το έργο δημιούργησε ένα διεπιστημονικό πλαίσιο για να αποκωδικοποιήσει αυτές τις δυναμικές και να τις επαναπροσδιορίσει καλλιτεχνικά. Σχεδιασμένο και επιμελημένο από τον εικαστικό Andu Dumitrescu, οι εκδηλώσεις αποτελούν βιωματικές εμπειρίες στο σταυροδρόμι πραγματικότητας και φαντασίας, όπου τα όρια ανάμεσα στην καλλιτεχνική έκφραση και την κοινωνική αλληλεπίδραση διαλύονται. Το περιβάλλον ενθαρρύνει τον διάλογο, τη συμμετοχή και την ενεργή εμπλοκή.
Στις εκδηλώσεις αυτές, οι επισκέπτες θα ανακαλύψουν τρία βασικά στοιχεία:
- Έργα τέχνης από την καλλιτεχνική φιλοξενία
Αναπτύχθηκαν από μια ομάδα οκτώ καλλιτεχνών διαφορετικών δημιουργικών υποβάθρων και βασίζονται σε τεκμηριωτικό υλικό, συνεντεύξεις και διεπιστημονικές προσεγγίσεις (ανθρωπολογία, ψυχολογία, κοινωνιολογία και νομική). Μέσα από οπτικοακουστικές εγκαταστάσεις, βιντεο-παραστάσεις και γλυπτικά αντικείμενα, το κοινό μπορεί να εξερευνήσει πώς η συγκατοίκηση έχει ερμηνευθεί, αντανακλώντας τις ιστορικές και κοινωνικές αλλαγές αλλά και την πολυπλοκότητα της σύγχρονης συντροφικότητας: εμπιστοσύνη, ελευθερία, ανάγκες, ευθύνη και κοινός χρόνος.
- Το Κιτ Συγκατοίκησης για Ζευγάρια
Σχεδιασμένο ως συλλογικό προϊόν, συγκεντρώνει μια σειρά αντικειμένων που πρότειναν και ανέπτυξαν οι καλλιτέχνες της φιλοξενίας με την καθοδήγηση τεσσάρων ειδικών (ψυχολογίας, κοινωνιολογίας, ανθρωπολογίας και νομικής). Το κιτ δίνει έμφαση στην επικοινωνία και την ενεργητική ακρόαση, στον σεβασμό και τη διαπραγμάτευση, στην εγγύτητα και τον προσωπικό χώρο, καθώς και σε θέματα όπως η αλλαγή, η στοργή, η ανάγκη για παιχνίδι και δημιουργικότητα, και οι συνδέσεις ανάμεσα στο παρελθόν και το παρόν που διαμορφώνουν την κατανόηση των σχέσεων.
Σε κάθε εκδήλωση, ένας περιορισμένος αριθμός κιτ θα προσφέρεται στο κοινό μέσω ειδικής κλήρωσης, μεταφέροντας την εμπειρία RELATOPIA στον προσωπικό χώρο της καθημερινής ζωής.
- Διαδραστική εγκατάσταση Δανεικά Πρόσωπα
Ιστορίες που συλλέχθηκαν μέσα από συνεντεύξεις – προσωπικές μαρτυρίες συμμετεχόντων και αφηγήσεις για φίλους και οικογένεια – επεξεργάστηκαν, εν μέρει μυθοπλαστικά, και υφάνθηκαν σε μια βιωματική εμπειρία που προσκαλεί τον επισκέπτη σε διάλογο ανάμεσα στο παρελθόν και το παρόν.
Η εγκατάσταση «Δανεικά Πρόσωπα» ζωντανεύει πορτρέτα που βρέθηκαν σε αρχεία – με την τεχνολογία τεχνητής νοημοσύνης από τον εικαστικό Alexandru Claudiu Maxim και με τη συμβολή ηθοποιών που τους δανείζουν τις εκφράσεις και τις φωνές τους. Εξερευνά θέματα αγάπης, ευαλωτότητας, σύγκρουσης και ανθεκτικότητας, υποδηλώνοντας ότι οι εμπειρίες και οι ιστορίες των σχέσεων του παρελθόντος διαμορφώνουν τις σύγχρονες μορφές συγκατοίκησης.

RELATOPIA is a multidisciplinary project exploring how romantic relationships and the idea of family have changed in Romania over the past six decades.
“Looking at the couple doesn’t just mean observing a relationship between two people; it means deciphering, through it, the invisible mechanisms of an entire society. In the way partners chose each other, in how they divided their home, in their silences and their conflicts, unfolds the broader story of a whole community: the dynamics between genders, how authority is passed on, the worth given to work and affection, and the shifting line between what is public and what is private.”

The project created an interdisciplinary framework to decipher these dynamics and reimagine them artistically. Conceived and curated by visual artist Andu Dumitrescu, the events are immersive experiences at the intersection of reality and imagination, where the boundary between artistic expression and social interaction dissolves. The setting fosters dialogue, engagement, and active participation.
Within these events, visitors will discover three main components:
Artworks from the creative residency
Developed by a group of eight artists from different creative backgrounds, these artworks emerge from documentary materials, interviews, and interdisciplinary reflections (anthropology, psychology, sociology and law). Through audio-visual installations, video performances, and sculptural objects, the audience can explore how cohabitation has been decoded, reflecting historical and social change as well as the complexity of contemporary coupledom: trust, freedom, needs, responsibility, and shared time.
The Cohabitation Kit for Couples
Conceived as a collective product, the kit gathers a series of objects proposed and developed by the residency artists, under the guidance of four experts in psychology, sociology, anthropology, and law. The kit emphasizes communication and active listening, respect and negotiation, closeness and space, alongside themes such as change, affection, the need for play and creativity, and the connections between past and present that shape our understanding of relationships.
At each event, a limited number of kits will be offered to the public through a special giveaway, carrying the RELATOPIA experience into the intimate space of everyday life.
Interactive installation Borrowed Faces Stories collected through interviews – participants’ personal testimonies and accounts about their friends and family – have been processed, partly fictionalized and woven into an immersive experience that invites visitors into a dialogue between past and present.
The installation „Borrowed Faces” reanimates portraits found in archives – brought to life by visual artist Alexandru Claudiu Maxim using AI-based technology and by guest actors who lend them their facial expressions and voices.
The installation explores themes of love, vulnerability, conflict, and resilience, suggesting that the experiences and stories of past relationships shape contemporary forms of cohabitation.
